Kimmie Scorziello - Clinical DirectorOur Clinical Director, Kimmie Scorziello, joined the FACT Surgery team in February of 2009. She began working in the medical field 3 years ago and is a licensed Medical Esthetician.
Her main goal with FACT Surgery is to facilitate the best possible pre and post operative experience for our patients in addition to coordinating the surgery and procedure scheduling. Kimmie leads the front office staff in a patient-oriented team approach to meeting your medical needs and takes pride in leading a knowledgeable staff that educates patients and offers outstanding care. Her passion for people is evident in every aspect of her work.
Danielle McKinnon - Business ManagerDanielle McKinnon is the Business Manager for FACT Surgery and has worked with Dr. Caldeira since 2006. Danielle is a Tampa area native with over 10 years experience in the Healthcare Industry, Danielle has mastered every angle in patient care including patient intake, insurance billing, patient management coordination of care and office administration. She strives to fulfill both doctor and patient expectations in providing an efficient office environment and deliver above and beyond patient satisfaction.
She compares her role at FACT Surgery as being similar to caring for her own family, with integrity and compassion. Danielle will help with your billing, insurance, and financial concerns.
Rachel Carter, RN - Patient LiaisonRachel joined Florida Advanced Cardiothoracic Surgery (FACT Surgery) in July 2009. She is an experienced intensive care nurse who specializes in critical care and postoperative cardiac surgery.
Mrs. Carter graduated with honors from the University Of South Florida College Of Nursing in 2007. She has over 4000 hours of experience in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit at Tampa General Hospital. This position has given her the opportunity to gain extensive experience in the management of patients with post coronary revascularization, valvular surgery, aortic aneurysm repair and MAZE procedure. Rachel has been elected nurse of the month on multiple occasions due to her compassionate dedication to critically ill patients that require advance life support therapy (ventricular assist device, extracorporeal membrane oxygenator, intra-aortic balloon pump, heart and lung transplantation). With such complete experience and natural ability, it was not a surprise to us when she easily obtained her certification as a Critical Care Registered Nurse.
Rachel's goal as our patient liaison is to work closely with the cardiologists who refer patients to our office. We believe that a strong relationship and great communication with the cardiologist will provide a smooth transition from the patient's hospitalization back to the outpatient setting.
Rachel's experience along with her fantastic personality and dedication made her an amazing addition to the FACT Surgery family.
Kelley Winters / Appointment Coordinator - Medical AssistantKelley is the first smiling face that you will see when you walk into our office. She joined the FACT team in 2008. She works closely with our patients in order to provide them with a stress free visit to our office. Kelley's skillful organization and experience insures that each individual patient has everything they need for their pre-and post operative visit. In addition to her coordinating the clinical schedule, she also schedules and coordinates pre-operative testing. Kelley is also the Medical Assistant for Dr. Caldeira. Her companionate, caring nature helps our patients relax and have peace of mind that they will have everything they need before and after their surgery.
Herb Herring Jr. / Administrative billing Assistant - Medical AssistantHerb, a native Floridian, joined our FACT Surgery team in 2008 after serving in the military for 14 years. Herb works with our patients in verifying insurance benefits, obtaining referrals and coordinating care with other physician's offices. He also works with our managed care plans to obtain authorizations for surgical procedures. In addition to working with the insurance companies, he also assists with appointment scheduling, pre-and post operative testing and medical assisting. Herb is a constant smiling face at FACT Surgery and is always willing to help our patients in any way he can.
Dr Raiane Pereira - Ventricle Assist Devices and Heart Failure ResearchDr Raiane Pereira joined Florida Advanced Cardiothoracic Surgery (FACT Surgery) in July 2009. A native of Brazil, Dr. Pereira graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Marilia, in Sao Paulo State. While in medical school she received an award for the best social activities and research in Brazil (1999) and an international prize for the best work presentation during Summer School of Oncology in Groningen - Netherlands. She did her residency training in General Surgery in the Clinical Hospital in Faculty of Medicine of Marilia and her Cardiovascular Surgery training in the Heart Institute of University of Sao Paulo, which has one of the most important cardiovascular centers in Latin America.
During her training she published articles pertaining to cardiovascular surgery in octogenarians. Dr. Pereira has also worked on presentations for the World Congress of Cardiothoracic Surgery in Kyoto - Japan (2006). This past year, she began working in Post Operative Intensive Care, in several hospitals in Sao Paulo.
She is working with our FACT Surgery family as Research Fellow collecting information pertaining to Ventricle Assist Devices and Heart Failure coordinated by Dr Caldeira.
